Sifton is currently looking for a part-time Server to join the team at The Westhill in Waterloo, Ontario. This role offers flexibility, requiring up to 37.5 hours every two weeks, including shifts on alternate weekends.
About the Role: Server
The Server plays a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for residents and their guests. This involves taking orders, serving food and beverages promptly, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide professional and timely service to ensure residents enjoy their meals.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in the dining area.
- Adhere to company policies, as well as regulatory standards, including the Ontario Retirement Communities Association and The Retirement Homes Act 2010.
- Follow safety guidelines as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other relevant regulations.
- Protect resident and operational confidentiality while prioritizing their safety and well-being.
Represent the company professionally in both conduct and adherence to the Social Media Policy.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following:
- Prior experience as a server in a commercial dining setting is preferred.
- A valid Smart Serve certification is required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to build rapport with residents and their guests.
- Proficiency in completing tasks accurately and efficiently while managing a busy environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, using joint decision-making and integrated strategies.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of a Police Records Check to ensure a clear background.
- Submission of a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or a medical note confirming freedom from infectious diseases.
- Commitment to professionalism, including effective communication and a team-oriented mindset.
