Currently, Sifton is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join their team at Dorchester Terrace in Dorchester, Ontario. This is a temporary part-time role with flexible shifts, including assignments from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., as well as every other weekend.
About the Role: Personal Support Worker
The PSW is an integral part of the caregiving team, providing personal care and assisting residents with daily activities to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by adhering to company policies and regulatory standards, such as the Ontario Retirement Communities Association and the Retirement Homes Act 2010.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding resident and operational matters.
- Provide compassionate and respectful care, exercising good judgment and courtesy at all times.
- Support the multi-disciplinary team by collaborating on strategies and joint decision-making.
Required Skills and Experience
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker program. Nursing students (second or third year) or internationally trained nurses may also qualify.
- Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process.
- Empathy, respect, and understanding for the elderly.
- The ability to perform duties efficiently, accurately, and with a focus on resident safety.
- Previous experience in cleaning responsibilities (an asset).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- A self-directed and team-oriented approach to work.
Additional Requirements:
Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check, with full disclosure of any legal issues that may arise during employment.
Documentation of a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or a medical note confirming freedom from infectious disease.
Commitment to working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
