Part time Client Program Workers for Shelters in Toronto, Ontario - wage $29.95 per hour

The City of Toronto is seeking dedicated individuals to fill the role of Client Program Worker within its Shelter, Support & Housing Administration Division. This part-time, ongoing position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of families experiencing homelessness.

As a Client Program Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging environment for shelter residents. Your responsibilities will include leading and facilitating programs for individuals of all ages, focusing on literacy, resiliency, life skills, and social skills. You will also engage residents through interactive events, group sessions, and recreational activities. Developing and delivering workshops on topics such as food security, health promotion, employment, financial literacy, and housing search will be a key aspect of your role. Additionally, you will assist residents with daily living activities like meal preparation and personal hygiene, and provide information about programs and services, supporting residents in their housing goals.

To be considered for this role, you must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience in providing direct support to children, youth, and/or adults, as well as facilitating workshops, programs, and activities in a recreational, educational, or residential setting, is essential. A fundamental knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Child Care and Early Years Act, and Child, Youth and Family Services Act, is required. Physical fitness to lift up to 30 lbs and participate in physical activities is also necessary. Excellent customer service skills to address inquiries, requests, and complaints are crucial. Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) is required.
