Bapa's Burritos Inc. in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, is currently seeking two dedicated, enthusiastic, and hardworking individuals to join our team as full-time Food and Beverage Servers. Job Responsibilities:
As a Food and Beverage Server, your main role will be to provide top-notch service to our guests, ensuring they have an enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. Key responsibilities include:
Greeting Customers: You will be the first point of contact for guests, so making a great first impression is essential. You will greet customers with a friendly smile, offer appropriate seating arrangements, and ensure they feel welcome as soon as they enter the restaurant.
Menu Knowledge and Recommendations: You will be expected to learn the menu items thoroughly and be able to describe them accurately to guests. You’ll offer menu suggestions, including daily specials, to ensure guests are aware of the full range of offerings. Providing recommendations based on dietary preferences or allergies will also be part of your responsibility.
Taking Orders: You will take food and beverage orders from customers, ensuring that you relay them accurately to the kitchen and bar staff. Your role will involve listening carefully to customer requests and ensuring every detail of the order is captured.
Serving Food and Beverages: Once orders are prepared, you’ll deliver the food and drinks to the table promptly, ensuring that each dish is presented beautifully and that customers are satisfied with their meals. Efficiently serving food in a timely manner ensures a smooth and positive dining experience for every guest.
Handling Payments: After guests finish their meals, you will present bills, accept payments, and process transactions through the cash register. You will handle various forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit cards, and travelers' cheques. Balancing your cash drawer at the end of each shift is also part of the role.
Clearing and Cleaning: You’ll clear and clean tables and trays after customers are finished eating, ensuring the dining area remains clean, tidy, and welcoming. You may also assist with setting up dining areas for the next service, ensuring all tables are properly arranged and stocked with necessary supplies.
Customer Service: Address any questions or concerns customers may have. It’s important to ensure every guest is satisfied and to handle any issues that arise promptly and professionally.
Team Collaboration: You will be working closely with the rest of the team, including other servers, kitchen staff, and managers. A collaborative attitude is essential to maintain a smooth flow of service during busy hours. Helping other team members when needed and communicating effectively will contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least 1 to 7 months of experience in the food and beverage industry, particularly in customer-facing positions. A Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required, and candidates with previous experience in restaurants or cafes will have an advantage. You should be familiar with food safety protocols, be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and provide exceptional service in a busy, high-pressure environment.
Physical Demands: The role requires standing for extended periods, walking, and the ability to carry trays of food and beverages. You should be comfortable lifting up to 20 lbs and have the stamina to handle a physically demanding job.
Personal Traits: The ideal candidate will be friendly, reliable, and able to work efficiently under pressure. Excellent oral communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and team members. A customer-focused attitude and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment are vital for success in this position.
