Child Development Institute Seeks SNAP Child Worker in Toronto
Toronto, ON – The Child Development Institute (CDI) is hiring a SNAP Child Worker for its East Toronto program. The CDI has over a century of experience in delivering mental health and early learning programs. As a multi-service organization, it focuses on the emotional, social, and behavioural development of children and youth. The successful candidate will support the Stop Now And Plan (SNAP) initiative, a program designed to teach children and their parents effective emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities of the SNAP Child Worker
The SNAP Child Worker will provide mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. Key duties include conducting assessments, developing therapeutic relationships with clients, and delivering evidence-based interventions. The role requires working closely with families and community members to ensure that children develop the skills needed to succeed in school and life.
Candidates will also facilitate group sessions such as SNAP Boys, SNAP Girls, and SNAP Parents. Additional responsibilities include individual counselling, skills development, school support, and case management. The worker will liaise with internal teams and external professionals to ensure comprehensive care and contribute to program evaluations and service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants should hold a certificate, diploma, or degree in Child and Youth Work or a related field, with experience working in clinical or therapeutic settings. Familiarity with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other mental health methodologies is an asset. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
